Chromecast the Super Bowl

With the Super Bowl right around the corner, many people will be wondering if they can Chromecast the big game onto the big screen.  The answer to that question is yes, you can Chromecast the Super Bowl.  In order to Chromecast the Super Bowl, you will need one of two things.  A computer or an Android device.  With a computer, the method used will be familiar to Amazon Prime members.  On an Android device, you will be required to download the NBC Live Sports Extra app and of course the Chromecast App.  Follow the guides below in order to Chromecast the Super Bowl.

From a PC:

In order to cast the Super Bowl from your computer, you will need to follow the guide below for casting Amazon Prime Instant Videos.  The only difference is that you will need to cast the Super Bowl from this website.  If you try to watch a video on NBC’s website before Sunday, you will be prompted for your TV provider’s log in.  On Sunday, NBC will be allowing people to watch the Super Bowl without using a log in.  A little tip…for some reason NBC doesn’t want us to watch videos on their site in full screen mode.  What I did to get around this was after I started casting my browser tab, I simply zoomed in on the website.  You can do this by holding the control key and pres + to zoom in, or – to zoom out.

From Android:

If you are fortunate enough to have an Android phone or tablet, you may be able to Chromecast the Super Bowl.  I just want to let you know that this may or may not work depending on how old your device is.

1 – On your Android device, download the Chromecast app (if you don’t already have it) and the NBC Live Sports app extra.

2 – Open up the Chromecast app, click on the hamburger menu in the upper left and select cast screen.  Choose your Chromecast device.

3 – After you have started casting your screen, open up the NBC Live Sports Extra app on your Android device.  You will now be able to Chromecast the Super Bowl to your big screen.  Simply start watching the Super Bowl in the NBC app and it will be mirrored to your Chromecast.

I have tested both techniques out and they both work.  I cannot guarantee that everything will work properly come Sunday as things could change by then.  If you test this technique out before Sunday, you will need to log in with your TV provider.  On Sunday, NBC will be allowing everyone to watch the Super Bowl without logging in.
